Biography

Felix Gaschick is a biodiversity and forestry specialist with more than 15 years of experience conceptualizing and managing natural resource and livelihood programs across Mongolia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. He joined Chemonics in 2013 and served as the biodiversity and forestry specialist for the USAID-funded Philippines Biodiversity and Watersheds Improved for Stronger Economy and Ecosystem Resilience (B+WISER) project, where he led the development of the Lawin Forest and Biodiversity Protection System — a winner of the USAID Digital Development Award. He has designed, directed, and advised projects in the fields of data-driven management of ecosystems, watershed rehabilitation, conservation financing, community-based forestry, and evidence-based forest conservation. He has also worked with communities, civil society groups, private sector, and local and national governments. His projects have won awards for good governance, forest conservation, and digital development. Gaschick holds a PhD in development management and is a degreed engineer in forestry, GIS, and landscape management.
