Biography
Mike Mascia is Senior Vice President of the Moore Center for Science at Conservation International, where he leads the organization’s research, technical assistance and capacity-building efforts. Dr. Mascia also serves as the President of the Board of the Society for Conservation Biology (SCB), the first social scientist to hold the post. His research focuses on environmental governance, particularly the emergence, evolution and impacts of conservation regimes.
He has published widely in leading scientific journals and has advised governments, conservation organizations and donors on four continents. He previously served as founding co-Editor in Chief of Conservation Letters and as founding President of the SCB Social Science Working Group. He holds a PhD in environmental politics and policy from Duke University, and a BA in biology and European studies from Bowdoin College.
