Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
CAP LTER provides opportunities for undergraduate students to apply theories and principles learned in the classroom to field and laboratory research. These opportunities include participation in the summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, which connects students with faculty mentors to work on a research project.
Students in the REU program focus on a well-defined research problem that is typically part of a larger research effort. They are given the opportunity to present a poster at the CAP LTER All Scientists Meeting and other scientific meetings. REU students also may co-author papers based on their summer research.
CAP LTER is collaborating with the Ecological Society of America’s SEEDS program to increase the diversity of students participating in undergraduate research opportunities. The SEEDS Partnerships for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) Fellowship program supports students from diverse backgrounds in finding research opportunities and in developing their leadership skills.
Undergraduate students interested in participating in the CAP LTER REU program should contact caplter.outrearch@asu.edu.
