Phenology Workshop: What Is It and How Can It Help Study the Effects of Climate Change?

The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and the National Phenology Network invite you to learn how to properly observe and document phenology, or year-round changes, in selected desert plants.

Understanding and collecting data on the timing of life cycle events for plants, animals, and microbes is one of the easiest ways for us to capture changes in temperature and precipitation in our natural areas.

Afterwards, volunteer for one of three teams to gather data on several desert plant species along phenology trails in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. It's a really fun project too!

LoriAnne Barnett from USA National Phenology Network (Tucson office) will be teaching this beginning-level course (volunteers and students are encouraged to attend).

Open to the general public. For more information or to RSVP, contact: citizen_science@mcdowellsonoran.org
