Software Carpentry's mission is to help scientists and engineers get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing. This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems. The course covers foundational skills necessary to be productive in small research teams.

The course is primarily aimed at graduate students, post docs, faculty and other researchers at Arizona State University, although the workshop is open to anyone interested in these topics.

Major topics will include: The Unix shell, programming in R, version control using GIT, and managing data with SQL.

Workshop Fee $25 (includes breakfast and lunch!). Space is limited, so book soon!
