Researchers from Arizona State University and New Mexico State University were recently awarded a USDA planning grant to study the regional food system from the perspectives of healthy food access and marketplace availability for small- and mid-size producers. The year-long grant will allow researchers to map production, distribution, and retail operations across both states, as well as identify case studies of organizations that successfully address issues of local or regional food insecurity as well as growth opportunities for producers of healthy, local foods.
