Join mayors from around Arizona in celebrating Earth Day AZ 2023! This statewide collaboration campaign highlights the many ways Arizona communities support the Earth with the goal of inspiring residents to take action for Earth Day during the month of April and beyond.
As members of and in partnership with ASU’s Sustainable Cities Network, these Arizona mayors and communities are showing that there is power in unity and that we all have a role to play in ensuring our planet’s health now and in the future.
Collectively, we can protect our precious and diverse natural resources and secure a thriving future for our state and the world. Join us!

Earth Week with Arizona State University
Each April, the world comes together to celebrate our home planet, Earth. First recognized on April 22, 1970, the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory now serves as the hub of activities at Arizona State University that honor Earth Day each April 22.
Earth Day Extravaganza with City of Phoenix and Green Living Magazine
Join Green Living Magazine, the City of Phoenix on Saturday, April 22 as we celebrate Earth Day Extravaganza to support our ongoing efforts to spotlight the impact of climate disasters and help our event-goers learn what actions they can take to minimize the effects.
Earth Day presented by SRP with Phoenix Zoo
“Spring into action” at the Phoenix Zoo as we explore ways to connect with nature and our pollinator friends while creating a better world for all creatures great and small.
Green Expo with City of Scottsdale
You're invited to attend the Scottsdale Green Expo from 8-11 a.m.! Head over to the city’s North Corporation Yard, 9191 E San Salvador Drive on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22 to be part of a special rededication ceremony honoring the “Son of Godzilla,” the Scottsdale invention that advanced modern trash and recycling pickup. Bring family and friends to explore sustainability-focused educational booths and learn about the city’s eco-friendly initiatives. And don’t forget to bring your reusable water bottle to fill up at our Scottsdale Water trailer!
Lake Pleasant - Earth Day Clean-Up with Maricopa County
Earth Day Litter Pick-Up and Park Beautification Project. Volunteers can choose to pick up litter at beautiful Lake Pleasant along the shoreline, day-use areas, and campgrounds or assist with weeding efforts at the 4 Lane Boat Ramp. Volunteers will be working in the elements and walking on uneven and rocky surfaces- a volunteer must be able to walk on these surfaces and tolerate working outdoors. Volunteers who are picking up litter may drive to whatever area they would like at North or Main Entry to pick up trash. Volunteers must drive carefully and not over-exert themselves.

The ASU Sustainable Cities Network (SCN) is an innovative education and outreach program within the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Future Laboratory, created to work with communities to strengthen sustainability in the region and across Arizona. Comprised of Arizona city, town, county and tribal community practitioners and leaders, SCN is a vehicle for sharing knowledge, identifying best practices, coordinating planning and actions, and fostering long-term partnerships. Created as a bridge between ASU research and local sustainability challenges, SCN participants and partners work together to streamline and green city operation and advance local and regional sustainability and resilience measures.
