Whether to support on-site green infrastructure or conserve potable water sources, all of the scenarios increase the use of alternative water sources (e.g., rainwater, greywater, reclaimed water) to supply outdoor water needs. Annual variability within a scenario depends on projections for future rainfall and temperature and the sensitivity of each scenario to changes in rainfall. An emphasis on banking for future use was especially prevalent in the True Cost of Water and Almost Zero Waste scenarios reflecting an explicit focus on supply for future generations.
