Eco-Grief and Collective Trauma in the Climate Crisis
Adam Lobel
- Buddhist teacher
- Scholar of Philosophy and Religion
Adam Lobel is a longtime teacher (Acharya) in the Shambhala tradition, focusing on Great Perfection Tibetan Buddhism. A speaker on ecology and spirituality at the United Nations, Adam was part of the first delegation of Buddhist teachers invited to the White House. He leads ecodharma workshops and is active in ecological and social justice movements. Adam teaches a critical style of contemplative training that seeks to avoid enclosure in neoliberal mindfulness while still disclosing effortless awareness.
As we face extreme climate change and epochal loss, many scientists are calling for an inner preparation for the "deep adaptation" of our times. In this talk, Lobel will discuss how we can overcome the inner, social, and ecological alienation of our times as we begin to deal with the climate crisis.
This event is co-hosted by Arizona Interfaith Power & Light, an interfaith ministry devoted to deepening the connection between ecology and faith.
A dessert reception in the Fellowship Room will follow the talk.
