Biography
Abraham Gibson teaches courses on U.S. history, public history, digital history, the history of science, and the history of technology. His first book, Feral Animals in the American South: An Evolutionary History (Cambridge University Press, 2018), examines the social, cultural, and evolutionary consequences of animal domestication in southern history. He has published widely on a variety of topics, including the radical transformation of the American home front during World War II, the worrisome rise of deepfake technology and its implications for the humanities, and the environmental history of moonshine (untaxed whiskey) in southern Appalachia. His next book project examines the relationship between evolutionary biology and international politics during interwar period.
