Biography

Alaina Zanin is an assistant professor in the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University. Her research lies at the intersection of the disciplines of health and organizational communication. One of her research articles collected farmer and consumer surveys from five regional farmers markets (e.g., urban, rural, suburban) to assess cultural motivations for buyer and vendor participation in the markets. Additionally, Zanin has worked on health intervention campaigns as well as large internally and externally funded grants, including a multi-million dollar grant by the NCAA to change the culture of concussion reporting among collegiate athletes. The project includes the design of a persuasive message campaign and intervention video aimed at increasing athlete concussion reporting behavior. Her recent work has been published in the Journal of Applied Communication Research and Qualitative Health Research
