Biography

Arielle Berghammer-Ziegler is the Senior Specialist in the Innovation and Development Research department at Chemonics International, a leading partner in implementing international development programs around the world. She focuses on furthering Chemonics’ innovation efforts, including corporate strategy development, management of strategic partnerships, and operationalizing mechanisms, such as capacity building, Solutions Labs, and innovation contests. These efforts also include Chemonics partnership with the UNLEASH Global Innovation Lab for the Sustainable Development Goals where Arielle serves as part of the Innovation Program Team in supporting youth entrepreneurs in their efforts to scale solutions for impact. Throughout Arielle's work, she actively engages with all 10 of Chemonics technical practice areas to foster innovation and promote opportunities for greater research integration. As a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a former Pashto linguist, Arielle spent the early part of her career in military intelligence with a focus on Afghanistan and Pakistan before transitioning to a focus on policy working for Congress both on Capitol Hill and at the district level across a diverse portfolio. Arielle received her Master’s in International Affairs from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University with a concentration in the nexus of security and international development. She has supported CSL efforts over the last three years and is passionate about sustainability, leveraging community engagement and innovative approaches for sustainable natural resource management, especially for improved water security, access, and management.
