Biography

Karina Hilton Spiegel is an experienced sustainability professional with nine years working in the field of sustainability. Most recently, she was the sustainability programs manager at Carnival Corporation, coordinating the design and development of corporate sustainability strategies and programs. Through her time there, she worked with various stakeholders on sustainability issues including sustainable development goals frameworks, carbon emissions reductions, and sustainability reporting. She also co-led the development of the 2020 corporate sustainability goals and worked on beyond 2020 sustainability strategy and goal setting. Karina graduated from Duke University with a dual degree MBA (with a focus in Strategy and Energy & Environment) and Master of Environmental Management (with a focus in Environmental Economics & Policy). Her Master’s Project (A Protocol for Co-Digestion Systems as a Source of Carbon Offsets for the Duke Carbon Offsets Initiative) focused on assisting Duke University and a local swine farmer to develop carbon offset from methane capture. Karina enjoys yoga, playing pool and is learning piano. Karina is married to a professor and is a devoted mother to her two sons.
