Biography

Miki Caul Kittilson is Associate Dean for Faculty Success, College of Global Futures, and a professor in the School of Politics and Global Studies. Her BA is from Arizona State University, and PhD is from the University of California Irvine. Kittilson's research examines democratic inclusion across a variety of countries. Author of 3 university press books, 17 peer-reviewed journal articles and 10 invited book chapters, she is an expert on women's representation in government and gender differences in political engagement. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, USAID and the AAUW. Kittilson's forthcoming (Oxford University Press) book Seeing Women, Strengthening Democracy: How Women in Politics Foster Connected Citizens is co-authored by Magda Hinojosa (ASU). The book examines the effects of gender quotas and substantial gains in women's election to office for mass-level engagement with the democratic process across Latin America.

One current project examines gender equality on high courts around the world (co-authored with Valerie Hoekstra (ASU), Maria Escobar-Lemmon (Texas A&M) and Alice Kang (University of Nebraska).
