Biography

Assistant Professor Magnus Feil received his MFA in Industrial Design from The Ohio State University and a Diplom (FH) from Fachhochschule für Gestaltung, Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. He came to the United States as a Fulbright scholar in 2000. His research interests are product design in aviation and medicine; product interaction: control of views, vehicles and robotic platforms, and aspects that guide form in industrial and interaction design. Magnus has received the Red Dot Award for excellence in Design by the Designzentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany in 2002 and the iF product design award of the International Forum Design Hannover, Germany in 2003. Magnus worked as product designer for B/S/H GmbH in Munich, Germany, as a design consultant for Siemens Corporate Research Inc. in Princeton, New Jersey, and as HMI design consultant for Johnson Controls Inc., in Burscheid, Germany. Before joining ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, Magnus held a faculty position at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
