Cinema Politica Free Film Screening: The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975
The Black Power Mixtape is an archive- and music-driven documentary that examines the evolution of the Black Power Movement in the African-American community and Diaspora from 1967 to 1975.
This Swedish film runs counter to US media portrayals of the Black Power Movement at the time, which was being alternately ignored or portrayed as a violent, nascent terrorist movement. Mixtape looks at the people, society, culture, and style that fueled a change in US political and social culture.
Joining us for a post-film Q&A is Michael Ingram, member and co-chair of BLM Metro Phoenix.
