ASU's Full Circle, a publication focusing on news from the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, recently highlighted one of our star faculty members, Al Brown!

Since the program's start in 2017, Al Brown has engaged over 130 graduate and undergraduate students across seven student projects with the City of Peoria, the City of Glendale, and the City of Apache Junction.

Al's work has touched various areas of sustainable waste management, but here are a few highlights of his classes impacts:

• Findings from the Spring 2021 Fine Glass Recycling project led to a new cost-sharing agreement with the Phoenix Municipal Recycling Facility to purchase new equipment for processing fine glass into a viable commodity. 
• Based on the Fall 2021 E-Waste Recycling project recommendations, Peoria is exploring opportunities for offering e-waste recycling as part of its recycling program.
• Sustainable Solid Waste Management students designed strategies for Glendale to expand its recycling program, including developing intergovernmental agreements with surrounding cities. 
• Student recommendations from the Fall 2017 Sustainability & Solid Waste project led to Apache Junction establishing an RFP for a solid waste hauler.
