Biography

Anthony J. Lamanna is a member of the American Concrete Institute Educational Activities Committee and committees 355 Anchorage to Concrete and C601J Adhesive Anchor Installation Inspector.  He is currently the editor for the upcoming 4th edition of the Contractor’s Guide to Quality Concrete Construction, and is the coordinator for the ACI Concrete Construction Student Competition.

He received his BSCE with a concentration in construction management from the Catholic University of America, Washington DC, his MSCE in construction materials from Purdue University, and his PhD in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

He began his teaching career at Tulane University in New Orleans.  After Tulane University closed its engineering programs in response to Hurricane Katrina, he started his own consulting firm specializing in repair, retrofit, and adaptive reuse of existing structures.  While consulting he taught evening courses as an adjunct professor at the University of New Orleans.

In 2013, he accepted an academic position at Eastern Kentucky University, where he taught courses in the construction management program.  He also led the program through the transition to a student learning outcome based accreditation standard, as well as led them through a successful reaccreditation.

Dr. Lamanna is a Rotarian, having been the charter president of the Rotary Club of New Orleans Riverbend and the president of the Rotary Club of Richmond, KY.  He is also a Certified Beer Judge, and enjoys judging beer competitions.
