Spain/Morocco: Energy in Morocco
Today we met with several people about the solar energy administration and after that I took off to meet with the culture collection in Mohammad V University. The woman I interviewed thought I was crazy because she had never been interviewed before, and definitely not interviewed on non-biological science material. The director of the center is exactly what a director should be, he has vision and has created the department from scratch. He showed me the ideas and patents he is working on and issues they’ve had with western countries patenting indigenous microbes.
It was also interesting that he felt more comfortable in French than in Arabic. He explained that this was because his primary language is a Berber dialect. It’s amazing to imagine him growing up in a tribe in the mountains and now he speaks 5 languages and runs an international center with Danish partnership.
