Seeds of Sustainability
What is sustainability? Take this training to learn the basics in less than an hour and educate yourself on how you can contribute to ASU’s sustainability efforts. After you complete this training and a short assessment, you will receive your “Seedling” certification.
Sustainability Certification Programs
ASU’s Sustainability Certification program offers a variety of ways for the university community to contribute to ASU’s sustainability goals. Participants are guided through a variety of sustainability tasks centered around energy, waste, water. You, your team, or your department can receive a certification in the categories below.
The program is on Blackboard and participants can self-enroll. Once in Blackboard, participants can review the criteria for the credits or take the test to receive their certification automatically. Participation can count towards the sustainability core expectation on annual performance evaluations.
Green Office Program
The Green Office Program recognizes offices across ASU for their sustainable practices
Green Events Program
The Green Events Program focuses on lessening the negative environmental impact of campus events.
Green Labs Program
The Green Labs Program focuses on waste reduction, proper chemical disposal, as well as energy and resource conservation across campus.
Green Shop Program
The Green Shop Program is designed for Facilities maintenance shops, research fabrication shops and service unit professionals are in a unique position to be environmental stewards of the physical workplace.
Green Housing Program
The Green Housing Program recognizes students living on campus for their efforts to incorporate sustainability practices and behaviors into their everyday lives.
Green Classroom Program
The Green Classroom Program recognizes teachers for their efforts to incorporate sustainability practices and curriculum into the classroom.
Sustainability Initiatives Revolving Fund
The Arizona State University Sustainability Initiatives Revolving Fund (SIRF) was established in fiscal year 2012 to invest in projects that foster and enable sustainability efforts and provide an economic return on investment.
Ditch the Dumpster
Ditch the Dumpster gives students a way to recycle, reuse, or repurpose their leftovers during the year-end rush to move out of residence halls. The annual event benefits local charities.
