Please join us for a tour of Arizona State University's Natural History Collections. The Natural History Collections are comprised of nine different collections that support the university's teaching, research and public outreach functions. The collections emphasize flora and fauna from the arid North American Southwest, especially Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. Our holdings rank among the largest collections of Sonoran Desert biota in the world. Learn about the different collections housed there.
Liz has been the Collections Manager for the ASU Herbarium since 2004 and her curatorial duties include acquisitioning, cataloging, and archiving specimens as well as managing loan and exchange programs with institutions worldwide. She is an active member of the ASU community and teaches Arizona Flora, Grasses of Arizona, and Sonoran Desert Field Botany.Typically, she is on the graduate supervisory committee of 3-5 students every year in addition to supervising student workers, interns, and volunteers. Liz is the point person for local floristic expertise and respond to inquiries and requests from faculty, students, and the general public on a daily basis. She also engages in research, grant writing, and outreach and administers for the Southwest Environmental Information Network, where she contributes to maintaining the digital data, taxonomic thesaurus, and image library.
