Concentrating Solar Power R&D at Sandia National Labs

This seminar aims to provide an overview of Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) research at Sandia National Labs in three parts. The first part will cover an overview of what Sandia National Labs does in energy. The other two parts will cover the capabilities, current research and testing done at the NSTTF, the world’s oldest large-scale solar thermal testing facility. CSP-101 fundamentals will be intertwined as an interactive part of the seminar.
Paul is the manager of the Concentrating Solar Technologies Department and the National Solar Thermal Test Facility (NSTTF) at Sandia National Labs, Albuquerque, NM. He is also an adjunct professor at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Since 2010, Paul established the first South African CSP R&D group, advised multiple grad students, completed his own Ph.D. and created two startup companies prior to joining Sandia Labs in 2017. Before this, he spent 15 years in the semiconductor industry, managing technology development engineering teams in various places including Oregon, California and Bangalore.
