The Future of Green Technologies
Deborah Strumsky
- Assistant Research Professor, Arizona State University- Santa Fe Institute Center for Biosocial Complex Systems
Deborah Strumsky has a long-standing interest in the study of technological change and its relationship to economic growth. Recent research for the US Department of Energy has focused on performance curve forecasting and the solar technological evolution.
In this talk, Strumsky will discuss the technological innovations needed to transition to a more sustainable society in the realm energy generation. New technologies tend to spark cost reductions and promote green growth. Although inventions in photovoltaics and wind often garner doting media coverage, little attention is paid to the rate of technological change in green technologies relative to other technology sectors.
Moreover, federal agencies have helped drive green invention over the past 25 years. What will the future be for federal policies and support for renewable energy research and green technology adoption considering the upcoming change in administration in Washington?
Bagels and coffee will be served.
