Free Film Screening: Waste Land
Oscar® nominated Waste Land follows renowned artist Vik Muniz as he journeys from his home base in Brooklyn to his native Brazil and the world's largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. Together with people employed to pick out recyclable material from garbage, Muniz creates large-scale mosaic portraits from landfill trash.
Following the film we will have a post-film Q&A discussion with ASU's Zero Waste Director Alana Levine and Outreach Assistant John Andrade .
