Global Futures Special Seminar:
The Snow Leopard Project and Other Adventures in Warzone Conservation
Alex Dehgan
- CEO, Conservation X Labs
- Professor of Practice & Global Futures Fellow, School of Sustainability, Arizona State University
Post-war Afghanistan is fragile, volatile, and perilous, but also a place of extraordinary beauty. Evolutionary biologist Alex Dehgan arrived there in 2006 to build the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Afghanistan Program and protect Afghanistan’s unique and extraordinary environment, which had been decimated after decades of war.
In this talk, Dehgan will highlight his book, The Snow Leopard Project And Other Adventures in Warzone Conservation, his work helping to establish Afghanistan’s first national park, and reflect on innovative approaches to advancing conservation and security in one of the most politically and ecologically fragile places in the world.
Book signing to follow.
A light lunch will be served.
