Global Futures Special Seminar:
Help People Help the Planet
Hari Balasubramanian
- Founding Managing Partner, EcoAdvisors
Sustainability is not so much a planetary issue, but a societal one. As the Sixth Assessment Report of the IPCC lays out, humans are our own biggest threat. Our current version of economics has separated profits from purpose and this cannot sustain humanity.
This talk will describe the underlying basis for the separation of innate environmental values from our everyday actions; where we have come from, where we are today, and where we should be going, addressing questions such as:
- Are we truly willing to address the greatest challenge humanity has ever faced?
- Do we need to choose between economic prosperity and our future on this planet?
- What can be done in real terms and at the pace and scale needed?
Hari Balasubramanian, founding managing partner of EcoAdvisors, has over 15 years in environmental conservation, corporate sustainability, and impact investing in five languages and in over 45 countries.
Drawing from both professional and lived experience, Hari will speak about the role of capital, connectors, and relationships in bridging the divide. He will share, and invite you to explore, pragmatic solutions aligned with self-interest in order to help people help the planet.
