Distinguished KAITEKI Lecture:
Toward a Circular Economy Systems Engineering Framework
Stratos Pistikopoulos
- Director, Texas A&M Energy Institute;
- Endowed Chair, Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering, Texas A&M University
Circular Economy represents an economy both restorative and regenerative by design, one that aims to solve resource challenges by keeping products, components, and materials at their highest utility and value at all times.
In this inaugural Distinguished KAITEKI Lecture, Stratos Pistikopoulos will present the foundations of a Circular Economy Systems Engineering framework and highlight the advantages, limitations, and open questions of this framework as seen through multiple case studies.
Pistikopoulos has authored/co-authored 15 books, 4 patents, and over 500 research publications in the areas of modeling, control and optimization of process, energy, sustainability, circular economy, and systems-engineering. He was elected Fellow of the UK's Royal Academy of Engineering and has received their prestigious MacRobert Award.
The Global KAITEKI Center is a University-Industry partnership between ASU and The KAITEKI Institute (of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation).
