Roundtable Discussion: What Does the Paris Climate Agreement Mean for the U.S.?

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse

  • U.S. Senate, Rhode Island

The Paris Agreement has been hailed as a historic turning point in the international effort to address climate change. But what does it mean for the United States? Will President Obama be able to join without Senate approval? Will the United States be able to meet its 2025 goal if the Supreme Court strikes down EPA’s Clean Power Plan? What is the role of the business community in achieving a low-carbon transition? A distinguished panel featuring Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and participants in the Paris negotiations will address these and other issues.
