Salt River Project: A Sustainable Water Resource?
Kevin W. Murphy
- Adjunct Research Faculty, Arizona State University
Due to broken air conditioning, the location for this event has moved.
Kevin Murphy holds a PhD in hydro-climatology from Arizona State University. After a career in optical communications working in engineering, marketing, forecasting, and strategic-planning roles, Murphy came to ASU for his PhD, and his dissertation quantified the climate resilience of the SRP reservoir system.
In this talk, Murphy will highlight his ongoing research on the SRP water system which has provided vital support to transformative growth in the Valley for more than a century. Drought concerns have sensitized water managers to risks posed by natural variability and climate change, but past investigative approaches have left decision makers with uncertain and inconclusive information. This talk will provide relevant, reliable, and practical risk assessments informing sustainable water management of the SRP system.
A light lunch will be provided.
