There has never been a more important time to educate and train the leaders of the future to deal with the threats of instability. Current world leaders are discussing climate change at the same time that local communities in the U.S. strive for more resilience to increases in climate events. U.S. universities have a responsibility to prepare the modern sustainability business, government, and other professionals with innovative technical and management approaches to lead in a rapidly changing world.
Arizona State University's School of Sustainability was the first comprehensive degree-granting program of its kind in the United States, with a focus on finding real-world solutions to environmental, economic, and social challenges. In this webinar, attendees will learn how ASU and three other leading U.S. universities are providing future sustainability leaders with the education they need now, and the tools to move the sustainability field forward.
Presenters include:
- Christopher Boone, Dean, School of Sustainability, Arizona State University
- Sandra Lubarsky, Department Chair, Sustainable Development, Appalachian State University
- Jennifer Allen, Director, Institute for Sustainable Solutions, Portland State University
- Lisa Benton-Short, Academic Director for Sustainability, George Washington University
This webinar, presented by Security and Sustainability Forum, is designed for educators, practitioners, and parents of future leaders. Co-hosted by the National Council for Science and the Environment, Second Nature and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, the session will be moderated by Shirley Vincent, Director of the Center for Environmental Education Research at NCSE.
