Thermochemical Energy Storage using Iron-Manganese Oxide Particles in a Packed-bed Reactor

Marziyeh Hamidi

  • Australian National University

One of the main drawbacks of renewable energy sources is their intermittency. For instance, solar energy experiences regular daily and annual cycles which leads to variations in solar irradiance. Furthermore, solar energy is unavailable during cloudy weather.

The talk will cover a promising solution to the intermittency of solar energy and the implementation of thermochemical energy storage technology in concentrated solar power plants. This would help to achieve the primary objective of providing non-intermittent clean electricity.

Marziyeh Hamidi has just submitted her PhD thesis at the Australian National University focusing on solar thermal energy storage. She is originally trained as a chemical engineer with the majority of her work experience focused on chemical reactor and chemical reaction modelling, as well as heat and mass transfer analysis in reacting media.

The seminar will be available on Zoom, https://asu.zoom.us/j/152822323.
