Study abroad opportunities provide real-world experiences and insights into how our past can influence our present, and how our present can shape our future. This session will present three perspectives:
- First, ASU students will present stories and photos from the 10-day Global Intensive Experience (GIE) course Cuba: Unlocked and on the Edge of Rapid Transitions, wherein many students commented they had time-traveled to Havana of the 1950s.
- Second, we will present student stories and photos from the 10-day GIE course Costa Rica: Did the Debt-for-Nature-Swap Create an Ecotourism Utopia?.
- The session will conclude with two 2022 programs in Southeast Asia: Singapore and Malaysia: Urban Development in a Biodiversity Hotspot and Vietnam: A Country of Historic Resilience Facing a Future of Rising Seas.
