Special Engagement
with USAID's Global Water Coordinator
Christian Holmes
- Deputy Assistant Administrator and Global Water Coordinator, U.S. Agency for International Development
Join us for a special engagement with Christian Holmes, Deputy Assistant Administrator in USAID’s Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment (E3), and the agency's first Global Water Coordinator. Holmes is responsible for overseeing the agency’s global water portfolio across 26 countries. This includes implementing the Water for the World Act of 2014, which aims to provide first-time or improved access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene in the world's poorest communities.
Holmes will discuss ASU's Global Development Research (GDR) Program, which was established in fall of last year. The program is the result of a partnership between ASU and USAID’s Global Development Lab, and offers top-tier graduate students the opportunity to foster global collaboration, advance use-inspired research and improve lives around the world. While connecting to a worldwide network of international-development professionals, GDR scholars work with USAID and host institutions in developing countries to solve the most pressing challenges they face.
In addition to the presentation by Holmes, GDR Program Manager Mohamed Abdalla will detail the application process and answer questions. A dessert reception will follow.
