Workshop One: Dwindle Down Food Waste with the EPA Food Recovery Challenge
Food waste from restaurants, grocery stores and cafeterias contribute greatly to the high amount of food that ends up in the landfill. While many chefs and food service operators excel at keeping food waste to a minimum, there are some fantastic tools and strategies that can help you analyze and measure where food waste is affecting your bottom line and how to divert it from the landfill. Join the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Local First Arizona to learn about these tools offered through the EPA Food Recovery Challenge.
Presenters:
J.B. Shaw, Recycling Coordinator, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality
Helene Tack, Development Director, Local First Arizona

Workshop Two: Accessing the Power of Food: Outreach, Messaging and Imagery Strategies Around Preventing Wasted Food
Food waste prevention outreach and messaging doesn't have to be all about boring scraps, materials and bins; it can be engaging, fun and more. Join Jordan Figueiredo of the internationally successful @UglyFruitAndVeg campaign for this fun and thought-provoking mini-workshop to explore how to reach people with powerful, eye-catching and memorable messaging.
