TEMPE, Ariz.—Professor Kevin Dooley has been appointed Interim Co-Director of The Sustainability Consortium for Arizona State University (ASU). Dooley, a Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain Management in the W. P. Carey School of Business and Affiliate Professor in the School of Sustainability, has deep knowledge and experience with the Consortium and its activities. Jon Johnson will continue as the Consortium's Co-Director for the University of Arkansas. Johnson is the Walton College Professor of Sustainability, Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas.

The Sustainability Consortium develops transparent methodologies, tools and strategies to drive a new generation of products and supply networks that address environmental, social and economic imperatives.

Dooley has served as a senior advisor to the Consortium since its inception in July 2009. In his new role, he will focus on assisting the Consortium’s industry sectors with the development of their initial sustainability measurement and reporting standards and plans to expand the Consortium’s work to other products. Current industry sectors include Home and Personal Care; Food, Beverage and Agriculture; and Electronics.

“Dr. Dooley has been an integral part of the strategy and development for The Sustainability Consortium. His renowned expertise in complex systems, business science, and entrepreneurship make him an excellent choice to co-direct the Consortium and build on its success," said Rick Shangraw, director of ASU’s Global Institute of Sustainability.

“The Sustainability Consortium is doing groundbreaking research on the life cycle and environmental impacts of various products that will help both businesses and consumers make better, more sustainable choices in the future,” says Dean Robert Mittelstaedt of the W. P. Carey School of Business. “Professor Dooley has been at the forefront of these efforts for some time, and we’re pleased he’ll be taking a broader role that will bring the Consortium even closer in collaboration with the business school.”

Dooley will continue his teaching and service with the Supply Chain Management program in the W. P. Carey School of Business.

Dr. Kevin Dooley is a Professor of Supply Chain Management and a Dean's Council of 100 Distinguished Scholar in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Dr. Dooley is an accomplished expert in the application of complexity science to help organizations improve. He has published more than 100 research articles and co-authored an award-winning book, "Organizational Change and Innovation Processes.” He is on several journal editorial boards, including Decision Sciences and Journal of Operations Management. He has been awarded two patents concerning Centering Resonance Analysis, a novel form of network text analysis, and is co-founder and CEO of Crawdad Technologies, LLC, a provider of text analysis software for academics. Dooley received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
