From creating a program to capture and re-use water to make the university more sustainable, to developing an online tutoring program to increase student success, to initiating and delivering an innovation and entrepreneurship program for tribal communities, ASU employees are helping their university and community in a big way.
In recognition of their efforts and achievement, ASU President Michael Crow hosted a reception to present the President’s Award for Innovation, the President’s Award for Sustainability, the President’s Medal for Social Embeddedness, and the Top Multiple Sun Award for Individual Excellence.

2010 Ditch the Dumpster
The 2010 Ditch the Dumpster program stemmed from ASU’s first large-scale effort during the spring of 2008 residence hall move-out to divert reusable items from the landfill.
Facilities Management Central Plant Water Capture and Re-Use
Facilities Management Central Plant and Grounds Services teams received $5,000 seed money from University Sustainability Practices to design, fund, construct and then re-use Reverse Osmosis reject water from the Central Plant.
The Future of Phoenix: Crafting Sustainable Development Strategies
A research team of faculty and graduate students, in collaboration with the City’s Planning Department, has engaged in analyzing the current state of Phoenix to craft future visions and scenarios, and develop transformative sustainability strategies incorporated into long-range city planning.
PolyHarvest Community Supported Agriculture
The PolyHarvest CSA is a community supported agriculture program that delivers fresh, local produce to ASU and non-ASU community members.
