Biography

Mary Sully de Luque is a Professor of Global Management, serves as the Academic Director of the Masters of Global Management program, and is a Barrett Honors Faculty member in Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. She received her BA from Creighton University and her PhD in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska, after which she served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. The book she coauthored, “Strategic Leadership across Cultures: The GLOBE Study of CEO Leadership Behavior and Effectiveness in 24 Countries” was awarded the 2015 Leadership Book Award for Scholarly Rigor and Critical Thought.

Dr. Sully de Luque’s research interests include global leadership, corporate social responsiblity and stakeholder decision-making, as well as micro and macro cultural influences in organizational effectiveness. She has presented her research at international conferences and she has published in journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Organizational Behavior and Academy of Management Perspective, as well as many book chapters. Currently, she serves as an editor at Journal of Business Ethics.

Dr. Sully de Luque has taught graduate-level courses in corporate social responsiblity, global leadership, cross-cultural management and global human resource management at several universities around the world. Notably, she has serves as the faculty co-director of Project Artemis, a program that helps women entrepreneurs develop and grow their businesses in emerging markets. Prior to finishing her formal education, she worked as an aide for two United States senators.
