Margaret Atwood: Exploring Climate Fiction

How can imagination and the creative arts combine with science to assist in developing solutions to today’s climate challenges? World-renowned author and environmental activist Margaret Atwood will kick-off the new Imagination and Climate Futures Initiative by discussing the genre of climate fiction, or CliFi, and how creative writing can help us reflect on sustainability issues like climate change.
Atwood is the author of more than 30 volumes of poetry, children’s literature, fiction, non-fiction and more recently CliFi. Her popular works include the "Maddaddam" trilogy ("Madaddam," "The Year of the Flood" and "Oryx and Crake"), "The Handmaid’s Tale" and "Alias Grace." A native of Ottawa, Canada, Atwood received the Booker Prize in 2000 for The Blind Assassin.
