Moderated by Kathleen Merrigan, director of ASU's Swette Center for Sustainable Food Systems. This event is in partnership with Island Press, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that shines a spotlight on crucial issues and sustainable solutions.
In her new book, Reinventing Food Banks and Pantries, Martin argues for a new model for charitable food, one that measures success, not by pounds of food distributed, but by lives changed. The key is to focus on the root causes of food insecurity, shifting attention to strategies that build empathy, equity, and political will.
