Biography

Darren Ruddell is a Lecturer for the Spatial Sciences Institute at the University of Southern California where he teaches Geographic Information Science (GIS) courses as part of an advanced online GIS program. Dr. Ruddell earned his Ph.D. in 2009 from the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University. The title of his dissertation was: "Scale and Scientific inquiry: An Investigation of Theoretical, Methodological, and Practical Applications." Ruddell served as a post-doctoral researcher for CAP and DCDC from June 2009 to June 2011 where he utilized geospatial technologies to investigate issues of urban sustainability and resiliency. Ruddell's work focuses on Phoenix, AZ where he studies physical and social dimensions of climate change at the regional and sub-regional scales of analysis. Ruddell also served as a Faculty Associate for the School of Sustainability where he co-taught Sustainable Cities in the 2010-2011 academic school year.
