Biography
Nick Shivka is a second year MSUS student who is working to build capacity for sustainable food systems in Phoenix communities through emerging business forms like social enterprises, benefit corporations, and worker cooperatives. He works with at-risk youth and marginalized populations in Arizona, empowering them to make healthy decisions for themselves and their communities through therapeutic life and job skills training. Nick hopes to help towns and cities in Phoenix realize the existing power of its people to support equitable and decent jobs, access to locally grown food, and livable neighborhoods.
