Biography

ASU has been a champion for sustainability since Dr. Crow's commitment led to the establishment of the nation’s first School of Sustainability in 2006. Since then, ASU has been making huge strides to develop, embed, and scale sustainable practices throughout the institution. This is reflective in ASU’s status as #6 in Sierra Club’s Cool School Ranking. Serving as a Student Involvement Coordinator, Kendon works with student leaders to raise awareness among the student body about sustainability practices and policies. He is instrumental in identifying pathways and opportunities through which students can engage in leadership outlets and practical experiences within the context of sustainability. In addition, Kendon supports and encourages students and student organizations to develop programs, competitions, and educational materials on sustainability-related topics. With the majority of the hard infrastructure in place, ASU is now poised to elevate the profile of sustainability through it’s most valuable and thirsty assets; our students.

Kendon Jung graduated from ASU with a Bachelor's in Sustainable Urban Dynamics (2013) and a Master's in Higher and Postsecondary Education (2016). He is interested in leveraging his experience and place to encourage use-inspired research and innovative solutions to economic and social challenges while embedding sustainable practice culture into higher education, private corporations, and public administration.

Kendon has worked as a thought leader across the spectrum of sustainability. He has been at the forefront of desert water policy, global corporate social impact, and urban resiliency in three nationally recognized research centers. He has extensive experience working with local businesses, non-profits, and public agencies to achieve sustainability goals. And most recently, Kendon is serving as the Chair for the City of Tempe's Sustainability Commission, employing innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and long-term visioning to help guide Tempe towards a more sustainable future.
